Mr. Hipwood is the teacher that opened up my life with his class in Mechanical Drawing.  I was so drawn to the class that I finished the first year before Christmas, and finished the second year before easter.  I, along with Ike Mitchell, were the first students in the history of the high school (to that point) to have achieved that honor.  We both were awarded plaques at the end of the year awards ceremony for this achievement.

I eventually ended up spending my future years at Sandia Labs in Albuquerque, and retiring from there as a Senior Member of the Technical staff in 1996.

I never would have achieved the life I did without the gracious support of Stan Hipwood, a giant among teachers at Los Alamos high, 1957.
